Nobody in the Ottawa area will be surprised by Toffoli playing a great 200' game. Put him a shade behind Logan Couture, but not by a lot. |

wow, I admire your ability to write articles when there is no news but not like other journalist who just make things up like possible trade destinations and 'things you think you think'
Good one, this graph is actually really cool. Very clear, some of your others I don't understand

Id take Karlsson actually |

Believe it or not, Keith and Seabrook aren't drawing the toughest assignments, which is why the forward groups in front of them are not as defensive-minded and those numbers look so average. - Sandus
Hjalmarsson is getting buried, but Keith/Seabrook ain't too far behind. It's Leddy that's really getting the insulation, I guess. But yeah. |

So would I, for next year and the long term. But it's close and there'd be a good argument to be made that we ought to prefer subban |

I know these things don't count for much in the grand scheme, but Subban just looked so much more inspired than Karlsson this year.
Obviously, the fact that Karlsson still managed to outscore Subban by a pretty substantial margin is telling as to their relative value going forward, but if I had to pick which full season's body of work I'd prefer, I'd be taking Subban's...
Mind you, the fact that he's killed it in the playoffs is a pretty big part of that, which is unfair to Karlsson since obviously that opportunity wasn't available to Karlsson.

Except for 5 of the last 6 winners who weren't Canadian.

hard to say. adding stewart, imo, offsets taking greening. i think ottawa would more want to send quantity than quality.....there wouldn't be any zibanejad, lazar, etc going back.
assuming that neil is close to being worth a 2nd rd pick.....and assuming its buffalo's 2nd we are getting.....i'd probably include 2 good prospects and our 2nd.
prince, pageau, neil, greening, ott 2014 2nd
for
ehrhoff, stewart, buff 2014 2nd |

And before that there was only 3 people who had ever won it that weren't Canadian (Leetch in '94, Lidstrom in 2002 and Butch Goring way back in 1981).
So, overall Canadians have won it 40/48 times it's been awarded since 1965 (an 83.3% success rate), not quite 99/100, but that is statistically impossible since it's only been awarded 48 times.
Facts...in context. |

I honestly don't think the Sens have the pieces to make a deal that big. They basically can give up a couple prospects and a second round pick from next years draft, that's about it that we would actually trade.
They have quality, but can't afford to trade any of their quality - except Spezza, which you wouldn't want in a rebuild.
We could add Pageau and one of Prince/Puempel, and then maybe you remove your second round pick and add in ours. |

Karlsson might not have been at his best, but like you said he still outscored Subban by a fair margin.... sometimes skills speak more than grit or heart. |
